Enabled a free live video webcast from Australia to Savannah projecting the seminal endurance performance of Mike Parr being electrocuted
Technical Broadcast Design
Broadcasting Mike Parr’s performance on the Internet was one of my most difficult undertakings to date. The challenge was to create a free, high quality video webcast from Sydney, Australia to be projected live in the sister-space at Savannah, Georgia with fourteen hours time difference. The pinnacle trial transpired when I had to troubleshoot ARTSPACE Sydney’s gallery firewall and local area network, via cell phones and calling-cards, to enable the live broadcast. This required an ability to scrutinize their human to computer interaction through the lens of a cognitive scientist. By having an advanced knowledge of networking and operating systems and understanding how the user was thinking, I was able to communicate with clarity to non-technical Australian artists. Ultimately, an Apple iSight and iChat AV were utilized to create the live webcast.
